Sunset Student Council has chosen to honor our veterans this year by fundraising for the Bighorn Basin Honor Quilts project. The October fundraiser, Coins for Quilts, will raise money for quilting supplies.
The Bighorn Basin Honor Quilts is a project from Families on the Frontlines in partnership with The Paintbrush Piecers and Trinity Lutheran Quilters. The project began 6 years ago to honor our local military veterans with the gift of a handcrafted quilt. Each quilt takes approximately a month and a half to complete, with all labor donated. The material per quilt, including fabric, thread and batting is valued around $200, but the heartfelt gift itself is priceless. Over the past 6 years, approximately 183 quilts were completed and presented to veterans all over the Bighorn Basin. If you know of a veteran who would benefit from the gift of an Honor Quilt, please contact Debbie Vold with Families on the Frontlines at 272-4294.
Sunset Student Council ask that during the remainder of October students bring any extra change to their classrooms starting on Friday, October 16, 2020, and put it in the jar for their class. The class with the most money by Thursday, October 29, 2020, will be given a pizza party from Sunset Student Council. We appreciate all your help and support! We look forward to the competition!

Good Afternoon Sunset Parents,
We want you all to know that we are serving free breakfasts, every morning from 7:45-8:10. If your child is interested in having breakfast at school, please ask them to tell an adult when they arrive at school. We will get them to the cafeteria. We need our participation numbers to increase in order for us to continue to have free breakfast in the cafeteria each morning. Thanks, everyone. Have a great weekend!

We are gauging the need for meal kit distribution for children not attending school in person. Those who are attending school in Cody in person are not eligible for these meal pick-ups as free meals are available daily at their school building. For all others please fill out this brief survey: https://forms.gle/2EViCs5Vj4JFkcGV7
Thank you!

The Cody Rotary Club's program called Happy Feet helps address a growing concern that children in our community lack adequate footwear. This program provides tennis shoes and snow boots to children whose
families struggle to keep growing children in adequate footwear. Please read about it in the attached image.

From Superintendent Monteith ~ First Positive COVID-19 Case
As expected, we had our first positive case of COVID-19. Our partners at Public Health contacted the school immediately and followed up with contact tracing. Within a few hours it was determined that no other students or staff would be required to quarantine. Our implementation of mask wearing and social distancing is working! Thank you to our partners in Public Health! Thank you to students, staff and parents for your support in adhering to our plan! Because of your efforts our schools will stay open!!

Free meals for all students
Yes, you absolutely read that correctly. The school nutrition department, in efforts to make sure food is available to all children, has opted to feed all children for free until Winter Break or until funds run out. In order to make this sustainable we need everyone to fill out a free and reduced form, please. https://family.titank12.com/application/new?identifier=HHCG2A
Funding for schools depends on our free and reduced percentage, this happens to be the time of year when we collect and submit this information to the state.
This move will have an impact on a la carte sales, they will have to cease. This means we will no longer be able to sell individual milk, extra entrees, and adult meals. I hope you can all view this as a small convenience to give up for the greater good for this short term period.
Make sure your student signs up each day during morning attendance to take advantage of these meals.
Be sure to watch for updates about curbside pick-ups!
-School Nutrition Team

Sunset parents, there are a few changes this school year to the way some things are done due to Covid 19 precautions.
The earliest students can be dropped off at school is 7:45 a.m.
In past years our school provided clothing, hats, gloves, and coats to students through various donations. We are no longer able to lend coats, hats, and gloves. If financial reasons prevent you from getting school clothing for your child please let our guidance counselor, Mrs. Baumstarck, know and she can help. These items will be given to the child to keep and not to share with others.
Please put your student’s names on their belongings, lunch boxes, coats, jackets, hats gloves, etc. if they are misplaced we can return it to them to the owner. We are unable to keep items in Lost and Found for more than one week. If your student has misplaced something at school, please have them check the Lost and Found in a timely manner. Unclaimed items are taken to the Bargain Box.

Sunset parents, our school district has a new online meal payment portal! Below are special links for parents. If your student had money on their account with our former system, My School Bucks, those funds were transferred over to their new account. If you have any questions, please call us at 587-4279.
Meal Application for free and reduced: https://family.titank12.com/application/new?identifier=HHCG2A
