Flu Season

Flu season is still in full swing. With so many students getting sick, please be sure to check PowerSchool for missing assignments and current grades. We want to make sure your student does not fall behind!

CMS Ski Trip

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Cody Middle School PE Department would like to take all students to Sleeping Giant Ski Area for a fun-filled day of downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing! We do encourage all students to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, but we will allow students who do not wish to partake in the physical activity to go and sit in the lodge if they have something quiet to do. 7th grade students will go on February 12, 8th grade students will go on February 13, and 6th grade students will go on February 14. We are leaving around 8:00 a.m. from Cody Middle School and we will return by 3:30 p.m.

Every student is charged a field trip fee of $15. It does not matter what activity they choose to participate in for the day - everyone is charged a field trip fee (even if your child has a season pass, they still need to pay the fee). Please make checks payable to CMS PE.

If students have their own equipment, they may bring it. If they do not have their own equipment, they may rent downhill skis or snowboards from Sleeping Giant. This costs an extra $10 and you need to fill out the appropriate paperwork your son/daughter brings home for rentals. If you would like your child to have a lesson with the staff at Sleeping Giant, they may do this for an additional $15. They need to let their advisory teacher know if they want a lesson. We encourage lessons for any first time skiers or snowboarders!

The school has several pairs of snowshoes for students to use during the day. If your child would like to cross country ski, we ask that they bring their own equipment. We will have several staff members on the slopes, in the lodge, and a few taking kids out in groups for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There is no additional fee for these activities.

Each child needs to make arrangements for lunch. The kitchen in the lodge is open for students to purchase food throughout the day. If your child would like a school sack lunch, please have your child tell their advisory teacher so a lunch can be prepared for them. Sack lunches from home are also fine.

We are sending forms home with students. If you need an extra one, they can be found on the Sleeping Giant website. Please feel free to contact your child’s advisory teacher or PE teacher with any questions!
